Most victims of Alzheimer’s disease are over 65. This film looks at a rare form of the disease, occurring in a very small percentage of Alzheimer’s cases: Early Onset Alzheimer’s. As the story unfolds, Amanda witnesses the rapid decline of her mother, Susan, who is only 39 years old. Although Amanda is still finishing high school, she has a three-year old son and now she must help care for her mother. Many of Amanda’s relatives suffered from Alzheimer’s and in her Aunt Connie’s case, the disease had also begun in her thirties. This film shows the emotional impact of the disease on all the members of the family.
